Clinical Pharmacist

Job description

Pharmacist - Grade 1

Public Hospital | South West Victoria
Monday to Friday | No Weekends | No On-Call

Melbourne pharmacist looking to break into hospital pharmacy - without competing for inner-city roles or sacrificing work-life balance?

This is a genuine opportunity to step into a public hospital setting with structured training and mentoring, while enjoying a significantly lower cost of living and a calmer pace of life - all just three hours from Melbourne.

South West Victoria is a well-established regional area with excellent schools, modern facilities and a strong healthcare network. You're also within easy reach of the Great Ocean Road and Warrnambool coastline - making weekends feel like a getaway, not a recovery.

Why This Makes Sense for a Melbourne Pharmacist

  • Clear pathway into hospital pharmacy with full training provided

  • Monday to Friday 8:30am-5:00pm - no late nights, no weekends

  • Real clinical exposure without metro-level congestion or pressure

  • Affordable housing compared to Melbourne metro prices

The Role

You'll work across all core areas of hospital pharmacy, including:

  • Inpatient and outpatient dispensing

  • Ward-based clinical services - medication reconciliation and patient counselling

  • IV additives, cytotoxic therapies and parenteral nutrition

  • Providing medication advice to medical and nursing teams

This is not a peripheral dispensary-only role - you will be involved in clinical services and multidisciplinary collaboration from early on, with structured support to build confidence.

What You'll Bring

  • General AHPRA registration

  • Hospital experience welcomed but not required

  • Strong communication skills and clinical curiosity

  • Ideal for early-career pharmacists ready to step beyond community

Salary & Benefits

  • Victorian public sector award salary

  • Structured professional development

  • Predictable weekday roster

  • Lifestyle shift without permanent metro disconnect

For Melbourne pharmacists wanting hospital experience, improved balance and a more affordable lifestyle - this is a smart strategic move.
